Hasbro Furby Connect Review

Well, I feel quite ashamed to say this, but when I excitedly opened up the parcel this week to find the adorable little Furby Connect sitting oh so cutely in the packaging, for some reason I came across all maternal!  Not something you usually hear from someone who turns the big 4-0 next week, huh!

But seriously, it’s just the most adorable little guy (I think it’s a boy) and I just wanted to pick it up and give it a big cuddle.

So I did!

Anyway, moving on swiftly from there! Basically to say I’d been a little excited for the week was a bit of an understatement.  Ever since I had the email from the lovely (and amazingly clever) people at Hasbro, saying that a Furby Connect was winging it’s way to us, I’ve been on the edge of my seat, jumping up like an excitable school kid at every sound of a slowing van outside my house!

More so though, I was just so delighted for my two little girls who I just knew would fall in love with it.

I tried not to get too excited and tell them, but I’m afraid to say, I told them within the hour and we’d already downloaded the new Hasbro Furby Connect app from the app store.  Oops!

To begin with, and without having the actual Furby Connect at the time, I downloaded the app onto my phone and let the kids play using the version which doesn’t actually require the toy.  But before long, both girls wanted their own device to hatch their own little ‘furbling’ characters and make sure they were each loved and cared for, and whilst the girls have been out at school or at clubs, I’ve done a pretty impressive job of looking after the little furbling darlings myself too, after getting notifications that they require attention! Ha – Sounds exactly like my children!

So that has basically sums up our week, but just let me explain a few more things about this brilliant new addition to the Hasbro product range

The Furby Connect App….

There are two sections to the Furby Connect App, one where you can link up your new little furry friend, and one where you don’t need to, which I think is really nice as you can still use and enjoy the app even if your little guy hasn’t arrived in the post yet!

I’ll start with the latter, as this is what we used first….

The Furby Connect World App

The app consists of a beautiful and brightly designed virtual world where you can hatch your very own little ‘furling’ babies.  There are over 60 of these to collect, and each has their own characters and traits which help you know what they each require or like. For example, some love to dance and party, whereas others like to play in the trees.

You care for your furblings by feeding them, cleaning them and healing them if they are hurt or feeling poorly, which is lovely as it really teaches your little ones to take a little responsibility too.  Each time you care for them, this ‘levels them up’ to reveal more of their characters and to earn yourself extra eggs ready to hatch, food for them to eat and medical supplies.

It’s such a wonderful game, full of love and cuteness which your children (and you!) will just adore!

The Furby Connect World App with Furby….

This is where the fun really begins!!

Well, even more life than normal!

In here you can actually name your Furby. There are lots of options to choose from, which is a really fun discussion with your children. We chose Kee-Doo, which in Furbish I think means, Floppy Ears!

The Furby will then sing along to songs, watch and commentate on the videos you watch together in the virtual movie theatre, and learn lots of fun new phrases.  It is also how you feed your furby too, which is always hilarious, as once he’s full, a trip to the toilet is needed afterwards.  I hate to say it, but this is the part my two girls found absolutely fascinating. What is it with kids and toilet humour!

Once Furby is fed, watered and ‘looked after!’ you receive extra supplies for the virtual world too, plus this is another great way to collect even more Furbling eggs.

Plus, if you have Furby connected up whilst you’re playing with the app in general, he will talk about what’s going on, and cheer on his fellow Furblings.

The app is free to download, but it does have in-app purchases available, but these are fully controllable if you change the settings in the Apple help centre, or you can even lock or doable the in-app purchases by adjusting your device’s settings.

For more information you can look on the official Hasbro Furby website here.

The little dude himself….

The Furby Connect is Bluetooth enabled, which provides him with an internal year-round clock, so Furby knows automatically if it’s Christmas Day, Easter or Valentine’s Day!
· Each Furby is unique, and as you get to know him, you’ll find his mood changes, from happy to sad, to scared, to excited which is fabulous for teaching your children about emotion and feelings.
· You can fully interact with Furby by petting, tickling or shaking him, and what’s absolutely brilliant is that you can play with Furby straight out of the box! With more than 150 expressive animations via the LCD eyes, ears and light-up antenna, everything he says is a surprise.

The Furby Connect World app keeps Furby updated and brings in new entertainment from across the internet every week that Furby learns to interact with

One more thing which Furby comes with, is the included Sleep Mask, which is a godsend if you need Furby to sleep through the night! He can get a bit excitable at times!

We are absolutely over the moon to have this little guy, and I just know there’ll be hours of fun times ahead, as we learn even more about him. Next on the list now though is second Furby, so they can interact with each other too!

The girls are already in love with this amazing new toy, as you can probably see from the pictures!

Here are the available Furby colours, teal, pink, purple and blue, so something to suit everyone.  So bright and cheerful, with the softest fur too just ready for you to cuddle and squeeze!
Furby Connect

So in summary, it’s not exactly cheap, but it really is a fabulous gift which is jam packed with fun and games, which I really think any child would love and enjoy.

Will Furby be on your child’s Christmas list this year?

love steph
