Little Wears | Staycation Essentials

Staycations have long been a part of the Great British holiday scene, but after a period of time where the good old package holiday took ‘vacation of choice’ top spot, the staycation has reemerged to become the cool new way to holiday.

The thing is, the British Isles are somewhat more unpredictable than the all year round countries and destinations, so packing becomes a whole new ball game!

For the last few weeks we’ve been frantically searching the online channels for long reach weather forecasts in the slight hope we might be able to plan a little further ahead. And, now with only days to go, we’re still none the wiser!

So, being the true Brits we are, we’ve decided we’re not going to let the unsettled weather dash all hopes of a enjoyable holiday full of outdoor fun and day trips – and instead, will embrace whatever Mother Nature will have to throw at us!

Of course though – it goes without saying that stormy, wet weather together with cold, soggy kids could prove otherwise.

But this is where the planning has come in. It’s only the middle of August, and ever the optimist, I’m keeping fingers and toes crossed for a spot of good fortune and some sunnier days, but so as not to be totally unprepared I’ve tried to plan as much as possible for all sorts of weather events without having to pack everything but the kitchen sink.

So, with this in mind, here are just some of the perfect items I think will suit an unpredictable and changeable UK coastal holiday.

Obviously though – we’re only going to beautiful North Devon, so, if the heavens do well and truly open – I’m sure we’ll find an odd shop somewhere which would stock wellies and full on waterproofs!

Here’s hoping anyhow!

Other than that – I suppose it’ll just be a week of  ‘Snap!’

This pretty Hatley Pink Deer Print Raincoat would be perfect to throw in a bag in case of any stormy showers £32.00

Little Marc Jacobs Silvery Mouse Slip-ons £60.08 – are quite big on budget but are rather super cute!

This beautiful smock dress would look perfect teamed with the espadrilles above Sunuva Girls White Cheesecloth Dress £42.00

For a little holiday independence this Anorak Wash Bag – Rabbit Orange £13.77 would be just the ticket

A pair of classic sandals are a must for any holiday – Birkenstock Girls White Patent ‘Rio’ Sandals £43.00

In love with these baby pink Sons & Daughters Pink ‘Bobby’ Sunglasses (5-12yr) £50.00 – after all – we must protect their little eyes!

These Igor Plastic Niza sandals Transparent £14.85 – will be just fabulous for those ‘whatever the weather’ days. And the odd spot of beach play and rock-pooling of course!

A long legged jumpsuit like this Navy spotted one from H&M at £7.99 – is lovely and light for the brighter, breezier coastal days, but teamed with a sweatshirt like this pale pink “Say Yes To Rain” one from Scotch & Soda, £38.48 turns it immediately into something a little more snuggly!

But, if it’s snuggly we’re after, how about these H&M Kids Cargo Joggers £9.99 – just add pretty tee and you’re away!
