I was fortunate enough recently to meet up with a lovely lady local to my hometown, who as it turned out was a Stella & Dot Stylist. Immediately I was intrigued!

Firstly just the term ‘stylist’ conjures up wondrous impressions of an uber glamourous life to me – and so clearly I was hooked!

I was fascinated to hear all about her job and of how she got started in the first place and obviously I just had to ask her for her big style tips for the winter sea on ahead of us!

So then I thought, perhaps you guys might want to hear this too!

The job itself sounds pretty wonderful, with such versatility for those out there who don’t fancy working the usual 9-5 daily grind. Add in then, the fact the job fits quite seamlessly alongside a daily role as a busy parent, it was just too inspiring and great a story not to share!

So, as we sat and chatted over our warming chai latte’s, I flicked through the beautiful brochures full of glitz, glamour, sparkle and shine, whilst Laura told me all about her role as a Stella & Dot stylist.

And, what’s more, the lovely Laura has chosen another of her favourite picks of the season to give away to one lucky reader.  Just scroll down to find out more!

How fab is that!

Am I allowed to enter these things myself?!?!?

The Interview…

So, how did you become a Stella & Dot Stylist?

I started working as a Stylist for Stella & Dot a year and a half ago, it happened by chance really.

I was just flicking through Cosmopolitan magazine when I spotted this gorgeous green statement necklace, I’d never heard of Stella & Dot so decided to google them, as you do!

On the website I immediately noticed the words ‘have your own fashion business’ so decided to read more.

At the time I was a full-time Mum and wasn’t keen to return to teaching but wanted something to provide me with some money and more importantly something that I could have as a project, something that would give me some confidence which had got lost amongst the piles of laundry and same daily tasks.

And what exactly does a Stella & Dot Stylist do?

Apart from own a massive amount of jewellery! Stella & Dot can only be bought online or through Independent Stylists such as myself at trunk shows.

My job is to help women find gorgeous accessories by shopping in their home with their friends around.

What is a Trunk Show?

A Trunk Show is basically a pop-up boutique in the comfort of your very own living room. You invite your friends and I bring all the accessories, we then have fun chatting about trends and trying everything on! Even grown women like playing dress-up, especially when there’s free jewellery involved – all hostesses are rewarded!

I also do 1:1 styling sessions if someone is looking for something specific for an outfit or maybe a gift for someone and I also take my pop-up boutique to cafes, business parks and charity events.

What do you love most about being a Stella & Dot Stylist?

One of the things I love about this role is the flexibility, I choose how much and when I would like to work, it’s perfect for me and my family. I’m loving every minute of working as a Stylist.

I’ve also met some wonderful, inspiring women and I now have THE best accessories wardrobe ever.  Plus I get paid to share my love of the product with other women.

What’s not to love!

If you’d like to shop, host a trunk show or work as a Stylist, why not drop Laura a line here or find her at Stella & Dot here.

Laura’s Must-Have Picks for A/W 15

So with Winter right around the corner and of course the festivities of Christmas only a few sleeps away, what are your must-haves for this Winter season?

What I love about accessories is that they can jazz up any plain tee or jumper. You don’t need to buy a whole new wardrobe for a new season – let’s be honest, it’s similar colours each season anyway, you just bring out last years Winter wardrobe and add some bling!

So, as I’m sure you’re all very well aware, grey is the new black this season, so I thought I’d start with showing you one of our scarves, which at this time of the year is a must!

Our Westwood Scarf in Dove Grey is just stunning and has a gorgeous metallic pattern subtly running through it. There are so many ways to wear scarves, check out you tube for lots of styling videos.

Westwood Scarf in Dove Grey-3

Continuing on with the grey theme, I think our Waverley Bag in Slate Grey and Brushed Metallic is a must for this season but will also be great all year round. What I love about this bag is the versatility, it converts from full length crossbody, to fold over crossbody, to a fold over clutch. Why have three bags when you can just have the Waverley! It’s also available in other colours.

Westwood Scarf in Dove Grey-4

Another trend for this season is fringing and tassels!

One of my favourite Stella & Dot pieces with fringing has to be the Chiara Pendant, it is simply stunning. Wear it causally over a jumper or t-shirt or dress up for the evening. A genuine leather backed, pendant with embroidered neutral sparkle detail, vintage silver accents and soft fringe.

Westwood Scarf in Dove Grey-5

Layering is also a huge trend at the moment and not just for this season. You can make a subtle statement with delicate layered necklaces or with a stack of long necklaces. So I would say definitely have a few necklaces that you can layer together and with other pieces you currently own.

To make things really easy for you, we have a few pieces already layered and one of my favourites is the Aria Pendant. It is also incredibly versatile as you can detach the smaller pendant to wear on its own! Two necklaces in one!

Westwood Scarf in Dove Grey-6

I can’t really talk about my must-haves for Winter without mentioning gifting.

We have lots of gift ideas under £25 but my favourite are our Wishing Bracelets, they come in lovely little envelopes so are gift ready!

Westwood Scarf in Dove Grey-7

So there you have it.

The lovely Laura’s top picks for this season to keep you looking fabulous no matter what the wintry weather may throw at us.

Personally I absolutely adore each and every one of these pieces, and I have already updated my Christmas list to include them in. I could quite easily buy the entire collection!

Are there any particular pieces here which take your fancy? Or are you just like me and want them all?!

love steph
